The Fermtech wine thief is a sturdy styrene tube with a flood valve on one end. Simply sterilize the wine thief and your hydrometer, slide the hydrometer into the top of the 'thief', and dip it into the carboy. It will fill as much or as little as you need to check your gravity. After taking a reading, simply touch the flood valve to the side of the carboy, and your sterile must floods back into the fermenter ready to continue it's journey to a state of fine wine.
