2007 Textbook Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Mise en place Oakville 94pts (CW) I just tasted the 2007 Textbook Oakville and it is a shinning example of the 2007s from Napa. On the nose fruit with dark cherry and currants. This wine is elegant with a purity of fruit and a lingering finish Beautifully integrated tannins with hints of dark chocolate, espresso and cocoa. Tannins are balanced with the fruit for a long velvety finish. Al Jabarin Calwine
• Superbly mature and well-drained sites on east-side of Oakville AVA,
next door to Screaming Eagle, down the road from Rudd & Joseph
Phelps’ Backus Vineyard
• Exemplary sustainable farming practices provided dense
clusters with perfect flavor and maturity
• Classic Bordelaise winemaking (blended varietals, new
French oak, egg-white fining) partnered with beautiful Oakville Cabernet
Sauvignon provides a spectacular resultFrom a vineyard adjacent to Screaming Eagle PlumpJack and Rudd!
90pts(IWC)Saturated ruby. Blackcurrant,
cherry-vanilla, bitter chocolate and licorice aromas are lifted by rose
and smoky minerality, with a subtle cured meat note emerging with air.
Sweet and juicy today, offering a tight core of dark berry, candied
cherry and licorice flavors, with a late repeating note of vanilla.
Nicely delineated and gently tannic, this is delicious now but will
reward at least another four or five years of aging. Finishes with sweet
tannins and lingering spiciness. Josh Raynolds Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 10
