2007 Pio Cesare Barbera D'Alba Piedmont
90pts(WS) Shows blueberry and floral aromas, with hints of sandalwood.
Full-bodied, with cream and vanilla character. This is tight and
solid¿and just right now. Drink now. 2,500 cases made. –James Suckling Dec 15, 2009
88pts(IWC) Bottled in May of this year; 25% of this
wine was aged in new barriques, the rest in large casks) Good deep red.
Wild aromas of roasted red fruits, coffee, chocolate, animal fur and
minerals, plus a whiff of nutty oak. Broad, rich and round if a bit
sauvage, with red fruit, smoke, earth, leather and mineral flavors
saturating the palate. This solid and somewhat chocolatey barbera comes
virtually entirely from "Barolo soils" in La Morra, Serralunga, Monforte
d'Alba and Castiglione Falletto. No shortage of acidity on the back. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine
Cellar, Nov/Dec 09
