2007 MacPhail Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
93pts(WE) This comes from Pratt Vyd, west of Sebastopol near Freestone(there's also a small percentage from the Ferrington in the Anderson Valley) It's not shy about either its ripeness or use of new oak, but the fruit is fresh enough to power through, with tart wild strawberry and raspberry flavors giving it a sauvage edge. There's a pungent spice of coastal fruit, as if the wine were picking up oon the layers of conifer in the soil. The freshness, tension and power suggest agining it several years before serving porchetta. 738 cases made Wine & Spirits Ocotber 2009
