In the Normandy region of northwest France field after verdant field are planted to heirloom apples trees grown for generations as one of the few crops to successfully withstand the cool, windy coastal environment. Apples for eating, apples for cooking but most importantly, apples for fermenting into cider or distilling into brandy.
Pommeau is a classic country style blend of apple brandy (1/3) and heirloom apple cider (2/3) aged for two years in old French oak casks. Deliciously refreshing when served chilled in summer or gently heated to warm one’s soul in the deep cold of winter and especially good in the kitchen to deglaze a pan after roasting a chicken or pork roast. Naturally sweet with a relatively low alcohol of 18.6%.
