Old Telegram is our homage to Vieux Télégraphe, made only in exceptional vintages, and only from mourvèdre, a grape known for small, sweet, thick-skinned berries and late-blooming habit. The hot Sacramento Delta of Contra Costa County is perfect mourvèdre land.

The vintage has aged beautifully yet still has the hallmarks of a keeper. It now shows a rare combination of fruit liqueur, kirsch, blackberry, smoked meats, and saddle leather, plus tremendous depth of flavor and the undeniable suggestion of mushroomy forest floor. Pair it now with game, lamb, venison, glazed pork loin, dry-cured beef, or portabella mushrooms topped with blue cheese or chèvre.
