Ground Control BMW Coilover Packages

The Ground Control coilover packages listed below range from street performance to dedicated track. Ground Control coilovers offer huge bang for the buck and will give a new personality to your car. Coilover kits are based on KONI rebound-adjustable dampers known for there performance and durability. The dampers used in these kits are the short versions specs specifically to operate at a low static ride height. We offer custom damper valving for stiff track-dedicated springs. Double adjustable (separate rebound and compression) KONI dampers are also available for further tuning and control.

KONI dampers come pre-adjusted to match the supplied spring rates using a shock dyno. Front struts are are externally adjustable from underneath the hood, even with the factory strut brace. KONI adjustable rear shocks are offered in two versions. The standard version, which needs tools and a jack to adjust, and the "top-adjust" version, which adjusts from inside the trunk with no tools needed. The "top-adjust" option adds $100 to the kit price. Optional double-adjustable dampers (Stage 3) have their compression adjustment knobs located at the bottom of the damper.

Ground Control offers Complete Shortened Front Strut Housing Machined from seamless DOM 1026 steel alloy tubing with heavy-duty swaybar brackets welded on. This design is much stronger and more rigid than any of the aftermarket housings (most are actually modified stock housings), and these units feature skip-welded gussets and retain all original brake line and ABS tabs. The adjustable spring perches use an Allen head bolt to clamp the single threaded perch into the correct position - no secondary pieces are needed to jam the threaded perch into position.

Coilover Packages (packages not available for some applications):

Basic - Great street or light-track package - Coilover kit DOES NOT INCLUDE front adjustable mounts and includes provisions to use in conjunction with stock strut mounts

Stage 1 - Adds camber plates to enable fine tuning of front camber for increased front grip

• Package takes the Basic package and includes Ground Control's Street camber plates for added front alignment adjustability. Camber plates are suitable for street use as they do not add additional NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) to the cabin. Typically built with medium rate springs for a compromise in street compliance and track chassis support.

Stage 1+ - Upgrade to a more track-oriented camber plate to provide further front suspension control and adjustability with more focus on track performance

• Package takes the Stage 1 and upgrades the front camber plates to Ground Control's Hybrid camber/caster plates. This is a spherical type mount with a cushion at the base for minimal NVH increase for a great compromise between street and track. These plates also add the ability for caster adjustment for fine tuning the front suspension. Typically built with medium rate springs for a compromise in street compliance and track chassis support.

Stage 2 - Upgrate to full solid front camber plates - less of a street compromise, increased track performance

• Package takes the Basic kit and adds spherical race camber/caster plates designed specifically for track use. These plates can be used on the street but NVH will be increased. Typically built with medium-to-high rate springs for increased chassis control.

Stage 2+ - Custom damper valving for dedicated track cars

• Package takes the Stage 2 to the next level with custom-valved dampers to better handle the stiffer spring rates of a track dedicated car. Typically built with high spring rates for a further increase in chassis control. Only suggested for street use for customers willing to compromise ride quality for performance.

Stage 3 - Double-adjustable dampers for ultimate control

• Package takes the Stage 2 and adds separate compression adjustability for further suspension tuning. The additional compression adjustment knob is located at the bottom of the damper. This package can handle high spring rates and stiff off excellent control for a relative smooth ride.

Suspension packages are shipped completely assembled and preadjusted (baseline). All Ground Control products carry a lifetime guarantee against defects when installed and maintained correctly. We strongly recommend that these performance products be installed by a competent, qualified mechanic. Strut assemblies will be powder coated red or black unless otherwise specified.

E30 Customers: You will need to ship your front strut assemblies to Ground Control for modification. Ground Control will shorten, reinforce, install perches, and powder coat the struts specifically for your application. The fee for this service has already been added to the price.
